  • Stone Coutertops | Verona Home Remodeling & Renovations

Stone countertops refers to granite, quartz, quartzite, marble and other natural stone surfaces STONE COUNTERTOPS (214) 239-1199 VeronaHomeRemodeling.com VERONA home DESIGN SCAN ME - PHONE 214-239-1199 Porcelain Farmhouse Sink Installation - quartz countertop, farmhouse sink, commercial style pull-down faucet in brushed gold, brushed gold garbage disposal drain ring. NOTE - The longest uninterrupted span is an important consideration since maximum slab lengths are often under 130 inches or just under 10 feet long. However, the average slab is usually 120"L x 72"D 2 - If we are measuring for new construction or significant cabinet modifications, we will work with design and architectural plans, then take measurements once the base cabinets are installed. 3 - We measure each countertop section as LENGTH and WIDTH. Slab orientation is important here, especially if the stone slab has a directional pattern. 4 - Next, it's time to find you the slabs for your spaces. Verona will put together a quote based on the type of material you like. For instance, Calcutta Gold Quartz, Taj Mahal Quartzite, or pure white Quartz. Your quote will reflect the cost of the material chosen, fabrication cost, sink or cut out polishing, standard eased edge or bullnose edges, slab installations and plumbing hook up of sinks and gas range. It is at this stage that you will want to select your new sink(s), faucet(s) and appliances that will drop into your countertops, so that we have detailed templating plans for fabrication. 5 - If you are satisfied enough with your quote, we will either send you over to the stone slab distributor that has your desired material in stock so that you can physically see the quality of the slab and the beauty of the pattern. Natural stone such as granite, marble and quartzite are cut from a huge block in successive slices, therefore the veining pattern runs through or is very similar when stacked together. They will often be listed as slab 3-4-5 or 1-4, so you have a good idea of what they look like. If you like what you see, it's time to purchase the slabs so that they can be held until the fabricator can pick them up and start working on the cuts. 6 - Meanwhile, we will send out someone trained in templating your countertops so that the measurements can be used for precise stone cutting fabrication. It often takes 10-14 days from templating to scheduled installation day. When the slabs arrive at your house, they are ready for installation, cut outs for range top or sink. 7 - Old countertops are removed and discarded. New material is installed in a single afternoon, unless the job is exceptionally large. Undermount sinks are sealed in place and range tops are dropped in place for the plumber to connect. Plumbing reconnect is coordinated and scheduled for 24 hours after countertop installation. After the plumber leaves, you should have all sinks, garbage disposals, faucets, soap dispensers, etc. finished. Your countertop installation is now completed NOTE - Sometimes existing backsplash tile meeting the seam at the old countertop height is different than the new installation. This critical issue is anticipated and will be conveyed to you before installation day. If this is the case, it may be necessary to remove backsplash tile, trim or replace backsplash tiles altogether. Again, this will be discussed with you. If for instance, your cabinet bases are not level and the old countertop was placed directly on top with the backsplash meeting the stone, installing new countertops level might mean that the new 3cm slab would hit above the backsplash line and needs to be remedied. Purchase is BY THE SLAB ONLY! This is an industry standard. It means that if you need 90sf of material to install, at a minimum you will need to purchase two slabs to cover 90sf plus cuts and overage needs. Considerations: If a slab is 120 inches by 72 inches, that is 10ft x 6ft, or 60sf of material. It would be nice to use every last piece of the slab, but that is often not possible for many reasons. First, the cuts and polish create some waste, so if you cut a section 25 inches wide, you may actually waste an inch on both sides, or you may waste 10 inches off the end. Additionally, it is necessary to take into account the slab's vein pattern. If the vein runs long ways across the slab, you will need the largest piece for your center island. Plus, if you cut a section of slab long direction 3.5 feet wide and 8 feet long, you can't turn the slab and use the 2ft piece at the end even if it is a full 6 feet wide, if the vein pattern runs perpendicular to the piece adjacent. It's simply aesthetics! Back to the example - If you need 90sf of material, you need one slab at 60sf and at a minimum a second slab for 30 sf more PLUS whatever waste you need to get the vein pattern running properly. It is likely that you might even need a third slab if the pattern is difficult. In this case, we might recommend an entirely different material due to the waste factor. Solid or non-directional materials can mitigate this waste such as pure white quartz with no veins.

Selections of various types of stone and porcelain tile used for home improvement Getting The Most Out of Your Remodeling Plans! Transforming Your Kitchen Plans And Architectural Drawings Starting with drawings, architectural plans, photos, magazine images, and exaples on HOUZZ or Pintrest, ideas can be transformed into a functional space that fits your style. Important Considerations Prior To Beginning Some important choices that you will need to make.... Altering the functional layout of your kitchen versus keeping it the same. Will you want to expand the size of your island or convert a peninsula into a free standing structure with appliances or a sink? Will you want a large farmhouse sink or an undermount type? Do you desire a commercial style faucet with a separate pot filler and extension hose? Do you want QUARTZ, QUARTZITE or GRANITE countertops? Will your island(s) have an overhang for bar style seating? Some other important decisions you will need to make are the following: (1) will your range or rangetop be relocated? If so, have you considered the type of range hood you will want? Functionally, you can choose a vent and hood system that meshes with your existing setup so that you don't have to relocate the vent system to the exterior. In some cases you can choose a ventless filter system for your range hood or you can use a downdraft system if one is already in place in a stand alone island or in front of a large kitchen window. Many ranges or full ovens are designed to function best with large (wood or stainless steel) hoods 24" to 30" above the cooking surface. Vent hood systems come in many sizes, but are typically 30", 36", 42", 48", and 50-60". Sizing is for good reason. Most townships, cities, or local government agencies dictate code that requires a range hood to be at least 6" larger than the cooking surface. Plus, larger hoods typically have more suction power, but this is not always a rule. In almost all cases, a stronger blower/suction is better than a less powerful unit for removing smoke and heat from the cooking area. Quartzite Countertops Cabinet Refinishing APPLIANCE LAYOUT FOR GREAT FUNCTION Additional Things To Discuss With Your Contractor There are many other things you will need to discuss with your remodeling contractor. One very important consideration is your kitchen cabinets. Depending on the quality or condition of your current cabinets, will you want to resurface (fine finish spray paint or stain) your existing cabinets or will you want to weigh the cost of replacing your cabinets with semi-custom or custom cabinets. These days, almost all cabinets purchased in larger stores or online sites are semi-custom cabinets. A floorplan is created in a CAD program, cabinets are laid out based on function, aesthetics, etc. Once ordered, they will be assembled in 6-12 weeks from a pre-established cabinet line or style, and then shipped, usually with a standard group of colors. Occasionally, a higher end line will have greater customization options and paint color choices. When received, they are ready for professional installation. Coordinating the arrival of this order is of utmost importance due to the time from ordering to arrival. Any delays can slow down the project timeline. With backordering in mind, the same goes for any appliances that need to be ordered before a job can fully be scheduled so that timelines can be maintained. A List Of Most Important Areas Of Work 1) Drawings and plans - 3-D CAD designs, architectural drawings to scale, photos, etc. 2) Cabinet refinishing - painting or staining of natural wood cabinets vs installing new updated cabinets. 3) New cabinet hardware - door pulls in various styles and shapes - finishes include, gold, brushed, satin finish, matte, nickel, 4) Cabinet organization - single or double doors vs more pull-out drawers, roll out shelving, dividers. 5) Countertop materials - quartz, quartzite, granite, marble, wood, etc. 6) Sink material (stainless, quartz, porcelain), style, size, shape, etc. 7) Kitchen faucet style, flow rate, nozzel type, metal finish (brushed, satin, antiqued, etc.). 8) Island - countertop functional flow and design - shape, height, appliances, seating. 9) Appliance manufacturer, style, size, etc. 10) Specialty appliances - wine fridge, in-cabinet wine dispensers, in-cabinet microwave ovens and coffee makers. 11) Pantry - size, placement considerations, functionality, secondary counter space, etc. 12) Flooring - high traffic areas, functionality, overall look in the kitchen. Hardwood vs porcelain tile in the kitchen. 13) Wall Paint Colors - color palet includes trim, walls, cabinets, stone countertops, ceiling, fixtures - how well do your color choices blend and compliment each other? 14) Electrical and Plumbing considerations - remodeling almost always involves some plumbing and electrical outlet/fixture work. We always use a licensed plumber and electrician! 15) Special lighting ideas - pendant lighting over island, chandelliers, etc. 16) Range hood ideas - custom designed, semi-custom hoods ordered with kitchen cabinets, vent hood mechanics and venting, electrical considerations. More Quartz Composite Sinks Are Super Strong, Scratch And Stain Resistant. How to choose the right tile? Porcelain, ceramic, marble, travertine, limestone, glass, and many more. Tile Work Tile Flooring - Wall Tiles - Accent Tiles - Backsplash - Bathroom Tiles - Shower Tiles - Porcelain & Ceramic - Glass & Mosaic - Stone Veneer (Brick) - Marble - Travertine - Limestone Porcelain Tile Flooring Concrete Adhesive And Prep Layer Porcelain Tile Installation Porcelain is fantastic for many applications but is particularly good for bathroom and bathroom shower (wet) areas. It is also great for outdoor pavers since it does not draw in moisture like ceramic, marble and other natural stones that need to be sealed and maintained over time.
